How To Improve Your Business 12 Minutes At A Time
And manipulate your brain to win
This has been said over and over again. Almost to the point of it being a cliche. But if you can plug into the HOW and WHY it will change your life.
We all have the same 24 hours in a day. Why, then, do some people get so much done. If you listen to Alex, he’ll tell you his #1 productivity tool. It is waking up at 4 a.m. He’ll tell you the hours between 4-9 allow him to get a TON of work done without any interruptions. If you haven’t heard him talk about this, check out the podcast. The episode is insightful.
What you’re going to hear about today is Alex’s #2 productivity tool. It’s called “The Minutes In Between” Here’s how it works. Start to pay attention to how many 12 minute chunks go M.I.A. How many times have you ended a task with 12 minutes before your next scheduled appointment. It doesn’t matter if it’s 12 minutes, 3 minutes, or 45 minutes. The exact amount of time is irrelevant.
Here’s what’s important:
Don’t use those minutes to check email, FB, Instagram, or anything else that puts you in idle. You’re a business owner. Move the big rocks. And keep them moving.
Your brain WANTS you to leave something before it’s done
It’s almost inevitable. Some of you reading this will say…” there’s no way I can get anything done in 12 minutes.” You’re right. And that’s a good thing.
If you leave something undone you have created an open loop. If you leave something without finishing it, your brain starts to crave completion. So imagine you start a project and have to go coach a class. As soon as that class is over, your brain is BEGGING you to go back and finish your task.
Not only that, but most writers and creatives will tell you that your best work is done away from the task. So when you walk away from an unfinished task, you’re brain is coming up with new ideas and angles. This helps you finish the task more effectively.
Not only will you get a TON of tasks done. You’ll also be moving the HUGE rocks of your business that move you closer to your goals.
So get out there you productivity freaks and DON’T finish that task. Or, said another (boring) way, make the most of your time.
